I am now learning to program Arduino devices, which are affordable. Some of the components I need are Arduino based, programmable in the C, C++, and Python Languages.

I then wanted to design my own printable objects and discovered FreeCAD, which completely blew me away (that it is a free, open source program) having worked in the commercial construction industry for nearly a decade. I knew very little about Arduino and all its options/capabilities. It started when I purchased a RepRap design 3D printer. I am almost 50 years old and am mentally scrambling to cram as much of this information in my head as I can before my family is left behind the technological curve. I must point out that in the last 20 years (the last 10-15 specifically) the development and growth of the open source robotics, CNC, and 3D printing industry has begun to take hold.

I haven't had extra money to help out the cause, but have spread the name and idea of KA through word of mouth for years. I have witnessed the growth of Khan Academy from a startup to its current form. As an old user of KA I am aware of the challenges with creating content for the C, C++, so on and so forth languages.
